Long Island Board of Realtors® Raise a Lakeview Roof
With Habitat for Humanity

November 2006 - West Babylon, NY -The Long Island Board of Realtors, Inc. (LIBOR) recently joined forces with Habitat for Humanity to build a house for a family that will be moving to the Lakeview community.  This philanthropic effort is part of LIBOR’s “We’re More than Realtors®” campaign, coordinated by the Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR) and their Public Relations Committee, that showcases the support real estate agents provide to the local community and to nonprofit organizations throughout Long Island. 

“LIBOR is delighted to work in partnership with Habitat for Humanity to help deserving families, such as the Moores, who are in need of decent, affordable housing,” said Gil Picard, President of LIBOR.  “Our members are dedicated to helping neighbors in need. Helping a family settle into an affordable, new home is simply a wonderful gesture.  We are so appreciative of our many Realtor® members and supporters who seek to make their communities a better place to live.”  “LIBOR is much more than a professional association.  It is an association that cares and works hard to a make a difference within the Long Island community,” added Frank Urso, Chairman of the LIBOR’s Public Relations Committee. 

Habitat for Humanity has helped change the lives of more than 30,000 American families since its first U.S. affiliate was founded in San Antonio, Texas, in 1978. Habitat affiliates build in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each affiliate is an independent, locally managed organization which coordinates local construction and selects partner families without regard to race, religion or ethnic group.
