Long Island Board of Realtors Help Build
Habitat for Humanity Roosevelt Home
May 2008 - West Babylon, NY - Celebrating April as “Fair
Housing Month,” members of the Long Island Board of Realtors® (LIBOR)
volunteered their time and skills to officially raise a wall and build
a new Habitat for Humanity home in Roosevelt. Volunteers worked
alongside Habitat for Humanity to begin construction on the single-family
home at 9 Wilson Place that will be occupied by the Brown family. The
property was donated to Habitat for Humanity by a local philanthropist.
The participation of volunteers from the Long Island Board of Realtors
in this worthy project is part of LIBOR’s “We’re
More Than Realtors” campaign, which continues to provide grants
and support to not-for-profit organizations and charities to support
community services, such as the Hagedorn Little Village School, Rebuilding
Together LI, Long Island Cares and The Harry Chapin Food Bank,
and organizes volunteers to assist such worthy organizations as Habitat
for Humanity.
According to Joe Sinnona, Co-Chair of LIBOR’s PR Committee; “Homeownership
is the cornerstone of the American Dream and deserves a preferred place
in our system of values as it contributes to community responsibility;
civic, economic, business and employment stability; family security and
well-being.” “The Long Island Board of Realtors is committed
to assisting New Yorkers in achieving the American Dream of becoming homeowners,
and we’re proud to be able to offer our assistance to Habitat for
Humanity, that does such important work on Long Island and across the country.” added
Peter Caruso, a LIBOR PR Committee Member and Volunteer who participated in
the event.
