Kathy Engel Installed as 2010 Long Island Board of REALTORS® President

December 2006 - Queens, NY - The Long Island Board of REALTORS® Inc. (LIBOR) has named Kathy Engel as 2010 Board President. Kathy was sworn into office by Nassau County Legislator, and close friend, John Ciotti during the recent Installation Gala held at the Crest Hollow Country Club.   Kathy, with her husband Ron at her side, took the oath to serve as 2010 LIBOR President.  Legislator Ciotti also presented Kathy with a citation from Nassau County.  Engel said she looks forward to serving the membership in 2010 and gave a heartfelt thanks to all the individuals that helped her get to this pinnacle point of her career. 

Kathy began her real estate career in 1986 and currently works for RE/MAX Shores in Oceanside. Over the years, Kathy’s desire to give back to the real estate community continues to be filled by her service on a number of committees for both LIBOR and MLSLI. Kathy has served as President of the local and state Women’s Council of Realtors®. In 1997, Kathy was Nassau South Shore Chapter Secretary and President of that Chapter in 1998. In 2004 and 2007 she served on the LIBOR Executive Committee as Secretary and in 2008 as Vice President of Nassau County. In 2009, she had the distinct privilege of being elected to the position of LIBOR President-Elect. On the State level, Kathy has served as a NYSAR Director since 1992 and on several committees. She earned her Real Estate Broker’s license in 1988 and continued to earn many designations including: CRS, LTG, CBR & e-PRO.

Legislatively, she has been involved in lobbying efforts to protect the Realtors® of LIBOR and their ability to earn and keep their commissions, and she has fought vehemently against proposed laws that would adversely affect homeowners as well as Realtors®, at the State and National levels.

Kathy and her husband Ron reside in East Rockaway and look forward to seeing their four grown children Brett, Brian, Bryan and Kelly as often as possible. The loves of her life are her three grandchildren, Addis, Jacob and Juda.
